TRIMMINGS!
TDWP2, LVMH to WHP, CA at the CI.
Whyyyyyy was The Devil Wears Prada 2 so bad?! We deserved much more. And what on Earth was with the abundance of ties worn in the movie?! The costumes felt somehow both overly referential of contemporary trends and utterly blind to any semblance of real-world fashion, which is kind of impressive now that I think about it…

Johnathan Anderson’s Dior remains an overthought, overstyled, slow-motion-pile-up of confusion. One can sense the physical burden of pressure on him to make the brand perform, and it’s stifling his bonafide talent for design. It’s not fair to a designer, but the look below is borderline inexscusable.

I went to see Costume Art at the Costume Institute this week, and it is phenomenal! A full review to come here soon, but in the meantime: run to see it. Actually, you don’t even have to run! The show will be up through January.

If you want thoughts on the theme before I can scratch out a full review, I’ve published a few very pertinent pieces in the past year (shameless self-promotion):

Breaking as I write this for tomorrow’s send: Marc Jacobs will be sold by LVMH to WHP Global! There have been murmurs of this deal for awhile now, but I actually didn’t expect it to happen so soon! As always, the highlight of the announcement is Marc’s touching sentimentality. I hope that WHP will take good care of him and value the brand as the industry leader that it is and has always been.

Speaking of Marc Jacobs, Marc, Harry Lambert, and Harry Styles blessed us with the perfect ‘transitional weather’ outfit. Will be recreating imminently—as soon as I get my hands on some shiny sport shorts.
And only five weeks until summer, when we won’t need transitional outfits at all! Yay!
