TRIMMINGS!
Trapper hats, swim bloomers, a collage of a movie.
Hi! Life has been full on lately, no?! Let me know if you’re enjoying the bi-weekly TRIMMINGS! or if you’d prefer to return to a weekly format—no worries either way. Let’s get into it!
We’re launching something huge…but tiny…tonight at Mess! It’s the first product we’re launching that we’ve designed start-to-finish ourselves, and I literally could not be more excited for the release. I think you’ll be surprised… Come by 6 to 8pm, have drinks on us, dance, and meet our special guest!!!

I went to the opening night of Marc by Sofia last night! A lovely, intimate portrait of Marc spliced through with tons of his beautiful reference imagery and footage, like a little collage of how his S/S 2024 show came together. You should definitely go see it.

I know we already discussed this on Instagram, but just in case you missed it: BLERGHHHHH.

What did we all think of the Miu Miu show?! Lots to chew on there. Aesthetically speaking, it’s not pulling at my heartstrings in the way that so many Miu Miu shows do, but it feels topical and pertinent and also like a whirlwind tour through Miu Miu’s history… It also feels like one of those shows that’s not hugely splashy on the runway but ends up dictating how one wants to dress for years to come.
Not to brag, but I was totally right in my prediction a few years ago now that Prada and Miu Miu would start catering to the ‘old Prada/Miu Miu’ collectors. This show alone had sneakers and boots plucked from the 1990s, 2010s-looking spangled and scalloped dresses, and Miuccia Prada-staple crazy trapper hats. (Time to get my bedazzler back out).
I’m very into the commentary about internal/external divides made clear in the presentation and the early glimpses of its surrounding campaign. Warm hats and slip dresses: bodies and their protection! Moss and wallpaper: inside and outside! As with all things Miuccia, this could be a dissertation in and of itself, and it’s all made better by visions of models peering through snowy windows in their sheers and furs. I also love the somewhat strange iPhone photos shared with the proclamation that ‘Decoration becomes a valorization of the body’. Damn, copy.

Of course Kim Kardashian is the first person to wear Demna’s Gucci. Idk, I love their friendship. They’re perfect together, and I mean that without a hint of derision or irony.

I bought swim bloomers! Summer is coming, slowly but surely.
See you tonight?!
