Looks like it’s shaping up to be another jelly shoe summer, thanks to Chloe’s fabulous Cinderella jellies. I love them, but unfortunately they cost about six times more than what I believe a jelly shoe should… Luckily there are some excellent alternatives flooding the market right now.
I honestly love this (clearly Chloe-inspired) pair from GAP, and I would totally order them if I didn’t already have these beauties from Ancient Greek Sandals (SO excited to get them out for spring). I also have these sparkly ones from Loeffler Randall waiting in storage. Obviously Melissa remains a leader in the jelly shoe game (these with some board shorts, OMG), and the new collaboration with Dr. Scholl’s is really calling my name (Chanel did it first though).
On spring break, I spotted a woman by the pool wearing some jelly Mary Janes, which obviously tickled my fancy. This vintage pair is so weird/cool, and these feel like the right shape and price for just chucking in a beach bag. Wild card is this Frankenstein’s monster of the past few summer’s shoe trends that would enliven an array of white cotton dresses through any heat wave.
I also just tracked down these Miu Miu S/S 2017 pool sides, which are a wonderfully sinful combination of Cookie Monster-blue faux fur and squeaky PVC. It seems I have a lot to say about jelly shoes, and we haven’t even gotten into styling them! Shall that be the next installment of The Wardrobe?

And while we’re in the shopping corner, update on last dispatch’s swim bloomers: they’re great. The matching swimsuit is great too! (Excuse the paltry hotel mirror selfie, we spent a lot of time on waterslides and very little time documenting our cute beach outfits…).

I’ve just started reading Fashioning the Crown by Justine Picardie (I was gifted an advance copy by the publisher), and I really like it, despite the fact I’m not usually compelled by royal fashion. Picardie is compelling writer who toes the line between sympathy for/interest in the queen and political skepticism of the monarchy with grace.

Yes to jellies!! I thrifted a pair very similar to your Loeffler Randall sandals and I’m pretty sure they’re children’s because they just fit my size 7 feet - I may list them on eBay to upgrade to the LR pair so I can wear socks with them!! I love the glitter and rhinestones together
