When my beloved cousin—who also happens to be the brains and the wines behind the indulgent, intemperate The Tell Me Bar—invited Gabriel and I to his ‘lightly-Halloween-themed’ weekend of wedding festivities in New Orleans, I knew that many outfits would need to be prepared. (What could be more in my wheelhouse than a theme that incorporates costumes and richly historic American city?!). When I stumbled upon a massive black square dancing crinoline at the flea market, I knew that I had found my own loose sartorial theme for the weekend. I wanted to put together looks that were equal parts romantic and dark—the Mary Shelley of wardrobes, if you will.
